Serious Instructor Training

Every Swim Otter Swimming Teacher is required to undergo 200+ hours of

in-water training. Other requirements include the study of human anatomy, child behavior, development and psychology.  Our swim teachers also receive continuing education at national and international aquatic conferences through The United States Swim School Association (USSSA).  Our swimming teachers are required to have current, Infant/Child CPR Certification and First Aid Training by the American Red Cross.  We hire swim instructors who are stable and have had a minimum of 2 years experience working with young children.

Meet Kathy Nowak, Founder & President

Ten years ago, Kathy founded Swim Otters, LLC and personally wrote the Swim Otters' Water Safety & Survival Program Curriculum®.  All of Swim Otters' lessons are designed to meet the needs of the individual child.  Identifying with the fact that kids learn best when lessons are gentle, Kathy is the creator of the "gentle and nurturing approach" in teaching young children the fundamentals of safe swimming.  She believes that kids should be "empowered" with the knowledge to keep them safe.  All lessons at Swim Otters are interactive, exciting and fun!

Kathy has undergone many weeks of rigorous and intensive training to learn how to teach infant & child survival swim lessons. She is the Master Instructor at Swim Otters.  Kathy has taught thousands of students in these life saving techniques. As a member of the NDPA (National Drowning Prevention Alliance), Swim Otters continues to forge ahead in new research & development in preventing pediatric drowning.  Being passionate and committed to preventing pediatric drowning in her community, Kathy recently founded the Swim Safe Program for preschool age children organizations in our surrounding Denver, Colorado communities. All of the Swim Otters Instructors have a "mentor" quality.  They take their job seriously which produces quality swim lessons for your money.  Their job is to teach YOUR child how to swim safely, and enjoy the water....for life!  All of our instructors are 18 years + and their background is in the teaching, athletic and fitness training fields.
